NRA's FIRST Steps Program

Ideal for the novice shooter, providing hands-on orientation to one specific action type of rifle, pistol or shotgun in as little as three hours, including a one-hour shooting session on a range.
The goal of this program is teach the participant the fundamentals of firearms safety and shooting,
Since FIRST Steps programs are action type-specific (only one specific action type of firearm is taught), and teach only the most basic shooting skills, they are not complete "courses" in the traditional sense of the word.
The program does provide a thorough introduction to firearm safety, handling, and shooting skills for that one specific action type of rifle, pistol, or shotgun. These skills require regular practice.
If you are new to firearms and the shooting sports, a 3 hour FIRST Steps program may be the perfect introduction.
